New Paltz Nazarene Church

Financial Support

The New Paltz Church of the Nazarene is involved in the support of over 800 Nazarene missionaries in 152 world areas as well as in the support of various ethnic and non-English language missions in the greater Metro New York area.  The annual missions budget is $25,000.  The money is raised through "Faith Promises" at the Annual Missions Conference held in the spring.  At the conference a promise to support world missions with a weekly contribution is made in faith that God will enable each one to meet the commitment.

Child Support Program

Another program through the Church of the Nazarene is Child Sponsorship.  For a contribution of $30 per month a child of a national pastor can receive the assistance that is needed to attend school.  The contributor receives the picture of the child and is encouraged to write and to pray for this child.  Another aspect of this program is to give $10 per month toward the hot food lunch of children in Haiti.  For some children, this is the only nutritious meal available each day.  Some in the New Paltz Church of the Nazarene are involved in these programs.

Alabaster Offerings

Twice a year, in February and in September, people bring in their Alabaster Offerings.  These are love offerings for Jesus, usually consisting of small change, that are saved in special containers.  They are call Alabaster Offerings in commemoration of the woman in Matthew's Gospel who brought her special offering in a jar made from alabaster stone and gave it to Jesus.  These offerings are used in property purchase and construction projects in world mission areas.

Prayer for Missionaries

The third Sunday of each month is Missions Sunday, and on this Sunday the personal needs of missionaries are presented and included in prayer.  Current requests may be downloaded from the denomination's headquarters in Kansas City, Missouri.
